I. 2004
Partnership Year with DISKovery.
|
|

|
Our 2004
partnership year with the DISKovery
Center has now come to an end.
Throughout
the partnership year, our volunteers
have donated their time to teach computer
classes, provide PR advice, build new
furniture, create a strategic business
plan, design a new logo and informational
brochure, assist in community events,
and raised over $20,000 to donate to
the DISKovery Center. Thanks to all
our volunteers this year and to the
DISKovery Center for the opportunity
to get involved and give back to the
community.

“The reason
why the DISKovery Center exists is because
we don’t just teach people how to use
a computer, but we help them to understand
how a computer can help them make informed
decisions, and to use this information
in a self-empowering way. With technology,
we are all content producers. We have
the ability to put things on the internet
and make our voices heard. By helping
seniors with create web pages so they
can tell their personal stories and
pass on their experiences, it creates
a bridge between generations because
once kids see their grandparents using
technology they get really excited.
Technology brings communities together."
"PbP
has an extraordinary group of people
who are willing to help out and looking
to make an difference and impact in
our community. My hope is that the spirit
of volunteerism
continues because there are so many
in the community that need this support.
I’ve been thoroughly impressed at how
pbp has carried itself and shown real
desire to get to know the non-profit
community." -Davis
Park, Program Director, The DISKovery
Center. |

III. APWC Metamorphosis Gala and Community Award. |
|
| The Asian Pacific
Women's Center ("APWC"), PbP's 2002 partner,
celebrated its first ten years at its Annual Metamorphosis
Gala on October 22, 2004, at Traxx Restaurant in the historic
Union Station. Attendees dressed in 1930's attire, sampled
gourmet food champagne, and swing danced into the night
to raise funds for APWC. As part of the evening, APWC
also recognized its partnership with PbP during the 2002
year and awarded PbP a Community Service Award. The Asian
Pacific Women's Center serves women and children who are
domestic violence survivors and provides affordable transitional
housing, as well as culturally sensitive multilingual

IV. Steering Committee:
Join Our Team.
|
|
"Joining
PbP was a great way to meet an outstanding group
of people. I’m a lawyer by day, and being involved
in the marketing team this year allowed me to
do something different and learn new skills.
Its been a rewarding experience." -Eugene,
Marketing Team
"I
moved to California a few years ago and was
looking for a way to get involved in the community.
This has been a great opportunity to meet other
professionals, develop leadership skills, and
give back to the community while having a fun
time." –Rob, Legal Officer
"I’ve
met a lot of hardworking, dedicated,
and unselfish people. Being involved with PbP
has made me more community-minded and has helped
me become a better person." -Jeremy,
Board Member.

|
“PbP
is very passionate about addressing important
issues in the API community, and being involved
this year gave me a great way to learn about
Little Tokyo. I used to walk by it all the time
but didn’t know or learn much about the community
about it until I got involved with PbP and the
DISKovery Center." -Michelle,
Partner Outreach Team.
