I. PbP SC Announces Its Partnership with DISKovery Center for 2004.

PbP SC is delighted to announce our partner for 2004, the DISKovery Center at the Little Tokyo Service Center Community Development Corporation (LTSC-CDC) in downtown Los Angeles.  The DISKovery Center was started in 1999 to provide affordable computer access and training to low–income members of the Little Tokyo community and the wider Los Angeles area.  Because senior citizens are often left behind in our digital society, the DISKovery Center offers classes and support that takes into account their special learning needs.  The Center also serves as a resource for job seekers and young people seeking to improve their computer skills.

The non-profit computer center is open to all members of the community.  Services offered include: classes ranging from basic level “Newbies” to digital imaging and webpage development, free public access hours, classes in both English and Japanese, and computer training for high school students children and seniors.

There are many volunteer opportunities with the DISKovery Center, ranging from teaching computer classes, working with local community groups, web design, helping with DISKovery events, providing technical assistance, creating a business plan, and establishing links with sponsors.  We need volunteers!  Please check our calendar for upcoming events.

To launch our 2004 partnership with the DISKovery Center, PbP SC will have an official kick-off event in February 2004.  Stay tuned for more details!
