Our 2005 Partner: Coalition to Abolish Slavery
and Trafficking (CAST)
Owing to the El Monte sweatshop case in Los Angeles
County, CAST was established in 1998 to assist survivors
of human trafficking and raise awareness of trafficking
issues in the region. To expand its mission, CAST established
its first shelter dedicated to providing clients with
training and workshops to help them become self-sufficient
and independent individuals. CAST is the first and only
organization in the United States of its kind to provide
assistance exclusively to trafficked people, and to
establish a shelter to provide direct services to this
population.
