Film News Now Foundation
Film News Now Foundation (FNN) creates films targeted to the US and international market to raise awareness of Asians and Asian Americans in the United States for their past contributions. The foundation has supported many independent filmmakers, in particular, Asians, Asian Americans and women. In the past, the Film News Now Foundation has sponsored projects by Ang Lee, Mira Nair, J.T. Takagi, Lonnie Ding, Renee Tajima, Peggy Stern and numerous other independent filmmakers. One of their most well known films is the Oscar-nominated Who Killed Vincent Chin? (1987).
2013 promises to be a transformational year, and with the assistance of PbP, the Film News Now Foundation will seek to finish the production for many of its films – Migrant Workers in Beijing, Riots, Rodney King and the Asian Community 20 Years Later, and South to South: Chinese in Africa, etc. – and to preserve and archive for 23 of its prior works - From Spikes to Spindles (1976), Teach Our Children (1972), Bittersweet Survival (1982), and Out In Silence/Not a Simple Story (1995), etc.
