PbP was founded in 1998 by a group of young professionals who surveyed
the nonprofit landscape and noticed a recurring need. Specifically,
community organizations were spending more time on the business of
nonprofit -- raising awareness about their causes, recruiting new
volunteers and staff, and applying for grants and funding - rather than
helping people. Comprised of a team of professionals with backgrounds in finance,
consulting, technology, media and entertainment and law, Project by
Project's founding team felt it could play a strong role in assisting
community groups secure the resources they needed and created an organization founded upon the principles of doing just that.
Expanding from its New York roots, PbP welcomed its Southern California chapter in 2001, and now thrives with the support of a diverse pool of more than 1500 volunteers nationwide. As PbP continues to grow through the support of the community, we are proud to have a part in cultivating a new generation of social entrepreneurs.
